Early Times Report
RAMNAGAR, Aug 23: The Department of Physics, in collaboration with the Science Club and IQAC of Government Degree College Ramnagar, organised a seminar to commemorate National Space Day with great enthusiasm and academic spirit.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Kewal Kumar (Convenor, Science Club), who highlighted the objectives of organising the event and stressed the importance of sensitising students about India's remarkable achievements in space exploration.
An expert talk was delivered by Dr. Rakesh Kumar Pandit (HOD Physics and IQAC Convenor), who elaborated on the significance of National Space Day as a tribute to India's space science legacy and its vision for the future. He emphasized that India's consistent strides in space technology-ranging from the Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions to the Gaganyaan programme-reflect not only scientific excellence but also national pride and global recognition. He urged students to draw inspiration from these achievements of ISRO and its scientists, and pursue careers in science and research.
Adding vibrancy to the event, three students, namely Vidyut Modi (Semester 5th), Nitin, and Veenakshi (Semester 3rd), delivered insightful PowerPoint presentations on the theme, showcasing their perspectives on India's space journey and its relevance for the younger generation.
In his address, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, Principal of the College, lauded the Department of Physics and Science Club for organising the event. He remarked that celebrating National Space Day is a step toward instilling scientific temperament among students and motivating them to think innovatively. He further said that such initiatives align with the vision of Viksit Bharat and the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020, which encourage research, innovation, and critical thinking.
The event was graced by the students besides presence of faculty members including Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Prof. Manmohan Singh, Prof. Sumita Rao, Prof. Ritika Mahajan, Dr. Sham Singh Kotwal, Prof. Sanjay Malhotra, and Prof. Romesh Kumar. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Ritika Mahajan (HOD Chemistry).
