| Jagriti discusses low turn out in LS election | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 5: The J&K OBC Jagriti Manch activists discussed the reasons behind low turn out during the recent Lok-Sabha elections in the region at a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Madan Lal Chalotra chairman of the Manch. As per press release, members were of the view that the main cause of poor voting in improper representation of all castes. The weaker and underprivileged castes have been given only political promises and never fulfilled as committed during the election campaign. All the politicians are responsible for the poor voting. The voters are being asked on the name of the caste, religion while region poor persons are misquoted and used as tools. He said all big ones and influential personalities are never bothered to come in queue and vote for the nation. They have been obliged by all these politicians are ready to fulfill their demands, just or unjust. He further said only poor and weaker sections are casting their votes as on date and the day will come that the weaker section will also be reluctant to caste their vote as they are not being treated properly. The votes of SCs, STs, OBCs is with the hope that sooner or later politician will come forward to ameliorate their miseries. But if the trend does not change the time will come for further deterioration in vote percentage. Ram Pal Salaria general secretary of the Manch was of the view that in case of proper representation given to OBCs and Mandal commission report is implemented in toto in the state of J&K there is no question that the percentage of voting in coming elections will definitely increase.
