Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 23: In a significant step towards promoting formal employment and social security in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Regional Office Jammu, organized an extensive outreach programme under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY). The initiative included a high-level meeting with senior management of the State Bank of India (SBI) as well as a seminar for employers and stakeholders at Hotel Asia - The Heritage. At the outset, officers of EPFO, Regional Office Jammu, met with Sh. Sandeep Sharma, Chief Manager, SBI Hari Market, Jammu. Welcoming the EPFO team, Sh. Sharma lauded the government's initiative, describing PMVBRY as a transformative scheme that would play a key role in expanding formal employment. He assured full cooperation from SBI and highlighted that the Bank would spread awareness about the scheme not only among its customers but also within its network of vendors. "SBI has always been at the forefront of implementing Government of India's flagship programmes. This scheme holds immense potential to benefit both employers and first-time employees, and we will extend all possible support to make it a grand success," he added. Following the engagement with SBI, EPFO officers conducted an awareness seminar at Hotel Asia - The Heritage, attended by around 30-40 participants, including senior management representatives, HR heads, and other stakeholders. The session was led by Sh. T. Shiva Murthy, Enforcement Officer, and Sh. Jatin Gupta, Accounts Officer, who explained the scheme's objectives, provisions, and benefits in detail. The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of PMVBRY, launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister on 15th August 2025, with an ambitious target of creating over 3.5 crore new jobs across the country, including 1.92 crore first-time employees. The scheme is designed with a special focus on the manufacturing sector, while also covering other industries, to drive sustainable employment growth and extend social security coverage to the workforce.
