Sadhotra participates in 10th day ceremony of Chesoti cloudburst victim

JAMMU, Aug 23: National Conference Additional General Secretary and former minister Mr. Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today participated in the 10th Day ceremony of one of the victims of the recent Chesoti cloudburst at the native village Benagarh in R.S. Pura. The deceased belonged to the ill-fated family of eight members, seven of whom remain missing in the aftermath of the devastating natural calamity.
Sadhotra talked to Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar for early retrieving of seven remained dead bodies of this family of Benagarh.
Sadhotra also participated in 10th day Ceremony of Chesoti cloudburst victim at Bodh Darank and Bhagatpur in Gho Manhasa and one at Flora Nagbani in Marh.
Interacting with the participants of the ceremony, Sadhotra expressed profound grief and anguish over the heartbreaking tragedy, which, he said, has not only shaken the family and the local community but has also sent shockwaves across the entire nation. He described the incident as an irreparable loss and underscored the helplessness of mankind before the fury of nature.
Consoling the grief-stricken family members, the senior National Conference leader expressed deep solidarity and assured them that the entire Jammu and Kashmir National Conference cadre stands shoulder to shoulder with them in this hour of grief. He said words were too small to heal the wounds of the bereaved family, but collective prayers and support can give them the strength to bear the irretrievable loss.
"Such tragedies remind us of the unpredictability of life and the importance of compassion and solidarity," Sadhotra said, while praying for peace to the departed soul and courage to the family in coping with the unbearable sorrow. He also expressed hope that the administration will intensify efforts to trace the missing persons so that the families receive closure in this dark phase of their lives.
Sadhotra observed that the natural disasters in hilly and remote areas call for a comprehensive strategy of preparedness, immediate rescue response, and adequate relief and rehabilitation. He said the government must prioritize strengthening disaster management mechanisms so that precious lives are safeguarded, and vulnerable communities are not left to face such tragedies alone. Sadhotra reiterated his party's commitment to standing by the people during calamities and extending every possible help to the affected families. He said that the entire rank and file of the party are united in grief with the bereaved families and will continue to extend moral and material support wherever needed. Sadhotra joined the mourners in offering prayers for the departed soul, seeking eternal peace for him and strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss.
Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah is himself monitoring rescue and relief operations and with this pace of rescue operation in moving fast.
