There are hundreds of problems in the joint family, but the solutions also meet here | | | Vijay Garg
Change is the law of nature, but every change does not progress. Every generation brings a change in line with its time. If this change is based on the foundation of rituals, it will be called continuous progress, but when this flow of change starts to be valueless and directionless, it takes the form of mere disorderly rebellion. The intensity that today’s young generation is violating traditional boundaries emerges by becoming an intense question not just a celebration of freedom whether it is the border-laden real intellectual liberation or only the West-inspired disillusionment ? Culture is not just a collection of rituals and traditions, but a life - sight, which provides durability to society. When the young generation begins to consider it as a symbol of the bond, it despise the fact that these so-called ‘bondage’ are the pillars of the structure of social harmony and co-existence. In Western societies where often ‘personal liberty’ means social, family and While cultural responsibilities are deemed to be disengagement, the merm of freedom in Indian life- vision lies in self-control, dutiful and dignity. There was a time when the elder of the house used to tave his mustache and say that there are hundreds of problems in the joint family, but the solutions also meet here. Today the problem is the same, the solution is also there, just now the solution is called ‘Retirement Home’. Statements such as ‘Matridevo Bhava, Pitridevo Bhava’ ever said have left like an old picture of mobile, seeing people laugh and say ‘all these don’t run anymore!’ Those roots of joint families, in which the family’s Vat tree used to breathe, now of pots in ‘flat culture plants have become. These are decorative, but do not give shade. The true nature of freedom is associated with self-development, not with the sacrifice of discipline. In the name of modernity, if the person is alienated from moral values and social responsibility, then he can neither upgrade himself nor society. The morality has now become a ‘alternative concept’ and the rite seems to be like that textbook, which is read one day before the exam and then the morbid is forgotten throughout the year. Modernity The new generation should ‘liberation’, but he is unable to decide who to be free - from the expectations of society or from the responsibilities of himself ? Freedom has now found so much detail that discipline has started drowning in it. Marriage, which becomes a sacred bond, is now only beginning to be seen as a facilitator contract. The prevalence of such relations is increasing, in which marriage is rejected considering control of personal liberty. It is contemplated whether it is truly freedom or then a well-equipped medium of escape from responsibilities! When the sense of dedication and co-existence in marriage is impaired, the balance of society also starts to stagger was a time when people used to earn diligently and live with contentment. Now the hype points out that our happiness should be ‘expensive and decorative’. Globalization has converted society into a multinational consumerist platform where there is huge relaxation on traditional values and Western ideologies are adorned in expensive shelves, where the new generation is shopping based on brightness. Those people consider themselves as customers. While the real product then they are themselves, whose time, consideration and feelings are being traded The question is not that the new generation is getting affected, the question is how and why she is getting affected. Is this effect imbibe ? In western society ‘freedom’ is considered paramount which does not match the collective consciousness and order of Indian society far. At the same time, ‘duty’ has been considered the basis pillar of that freedom in Indian society. This statement of Swami Vivekananda appears to be extremely relevant: ‘Culture is the soul of any nation, and if the soul itself dies, no value of the body is left.’ Swami Vivekananda had also challenged the traditional stereotypes of society, but they did not deviate from the basic elements of Indianhood. They became the conductor of the resurgence of humanity, not of destruction. Today when young people are salvaging traditions in the name of ‘freedom’, it should be overlooked whether they are getting free or just getting stuck in a new network of self-worth! Is this revolt born of autism, or merely indiscriminatory of Western influence? Breach of boundaries is meaningful when it paves the way for self-development and social upliftment, not the fragmentation of original identity. The question is not whether the boundaries are to be entrenched or not, but what is the purpose of launching them- destruction or prudent reconstruction ?
