| National Sports Day celebrated with enthusiasm across Jammu division by MY Bharat | | |  Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Aug 30: Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, celebrated National Sports Day with great fervour and enthusiasm in the districts of Udhampur, Reasi, Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban. The day was observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand, whose contribution to Indian sports continues to inspire generations.
The celebrations began with the garlanding of Major Dhyan Chand's portrait as a mark of respect and remembrance of his glorious achievements. To spread awareness about his life and values, essay writing competitions on the life and history of Major Dhyan Chand were organised, witnessing active participation from MY Bharat volunteers. Oath on maintaining physical fitness was also administered by the participating youth.
In addition to literary activities, a series of sports and physical fitness programmes were held, including Volleyball, Badminton, Athletics, and other recreational activities. The young volunteers of MY Bharat enthusiastically showcased their sporting talent and spirit of teamwork, thereby spreading the message of fitness, discipline, and dedication.
Speaking on the occasion, officials and coordinators of MY Bharat highlighted that National Sports Day serves as a reminder of India's rich sports legacy and motivates youth to adopt sports as an integral part of life. They also stressed on the role of physical fitness in nation-building and urged youngsters to actively participate in various sports for their holistic development.
The celebration across multiple districts turned into a spirited movement, reflecting the vision of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports to nurture a healthy, active, and vibrant young India. |
