| BJP wants re-poll a high polling areas | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 6- Welcoming different initiatives taken by the state government for providing entry tax exemption to Chamber of Infrastructure Developers (J&K) the BJP spokesperson Ramesh Arora has said the initiative of the state government should not remain confined to big houses and developers only. There are other vital fields, like tourism and holy pilgrimages, which require due attention of the state government, he added. Addressing media persons here today Arora said no infrastructure and facility is provided to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnath pilgrims by the government. More than 75 lakh pilgrims visit J&K annually. It is ridiculous that in our state, instead of providing facilities and infrastructure by the government, Toll Tax is charged at two places- Lakhanpur and Lower Manda and more shocking is that in J&K toll is charged at entry and exit as well. Normally toll is charged only at entry point and not at exit. He said like Haj Yatris infrastructure and facilities should be provided by the state government to yatris of Shri Amarnath and Mata Vaishno Devi adding that there should be total exemption for the yatris coming for darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi or Shri Amarnath Shrine. ‘If the state government can provide exemption to walnuts, apples and subsidy to Haj pilgrims, why can’t it exempt tax on items meant for worship purposes at Mata Vaishno’, he said and regretted that the state government was causing hindrance every year in smooth arrangement of langers. These langers are arranged for the yatris and food items are provided without any cost. He pointed out that increase in the writ petition filed in High Court for permission for providing space in order to arrange free Langer, reflects Kashmir-centric and anti-Jammu approach. BJP candidate from Jammu-Poonch parliamentary constituency Lila Karan Sharma who addressed the press conference alleged irregularities in certain polling booths at Darhal and other parts in hyper sensitive stations and said that even the officials deputed by the Election Commission have also pointed out irregularities to election authorities. The same is also evident from the Form 17-A showing the entry of votes polled which reflects polling in serial number as per voter list. This is totally impossible. They said that the matter has been repeatedly brought into the notice of the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, but it is unfortunate that no action has been taken on even a single complaint. The BJP leaders jointly demanded re-polling in all such booths where voting percentage has been recorded around 90 percent.
