Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 31: In a remarkable display of compassion and solidarity, the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Old Age Home), Ambphalla, Jammu has been tirelessly reaching out to families affected by the recent devastating floods in Jammu & Kashmir. Over the last three consecutive days, the Home has carried forward its humanitarian mission with dedication, ensuring that hope and relief reach those in dire need. On August 29, 2025, the noble initiative was first undertaken by the inmates of the Old Age Home themselves, who came forward with heartfelt support for flood-affected families. Their act of empathy reflected that even the elderly, despite physical limitations, have boundless strength when it comes to serving humanity. On August 30, 2025, the Home extended its efforts further by distributing 1,000 packed lunches comprising Rajma Chawal, pickle, and water bottles in several villages and surrounding areas of Jammu District, including Bore Camp, Mangu Chak, Nandwal, Sure Chak, and parts of Jammu city. This large-scale relief was made possible under the leadership of Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, along with committee members, life members, and volunteers. Continuing with the same spirit, on August 31, 2025, the Home once again reached out by distributing 328 packed lunches of Aloo Puri, Halwa, pickle, and water bottles among families residing in Gujjar Nagar and adjoining areas, particularly behind the 4th Bridge. This sustained relief drive reflects the commitment of the Home to not let compassion pause, even for a day. On this occasion, the Management of the Home also made a special appeal to the public: if any elderly person, 60 years or above, mentally and physically normal but living in isolation without family support, is found, he/she may kindly be referred to the Old Age Home, Ambphalla, Jammu. The institution ensures comfortable stay, meals, and compassionate care to such senior citizens, so that they do not feel neglected in their later years. |
