| Prominent Gojri Poet Hussan passes away | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, May 6- Prominent Gojri Poet and Researcher Ch. Hussan Din Hussan passed away last night at Jammu after prolonged illness. He was 98. Hussan was one of the leading writers of Gojri who had immensely contributed to Gujjar movement in twenties. He was among the founder members of Gujjar –Jat Conference a Social organization established in 1931 for welfare and development of Gujjars and Jat communities of State. Being a writer of Gojri language he had contributed half a dozen books in poetry to the language including three most popular anthologies entitled “Souch Ko Muqam” , “Pagham-e-Hussan” and “Guldasta-e-Hussan”. Hailing from Hari Village of Surankote, 25 Km away from Poonch town on Line of Control, Ch Hussan has done a pioneering work in the field of Gojri language and Literature. The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages also awarded him for his poetry in 1987. Dr. Javaid Rahi, Head of Gojri wing of State Academy, while condoling the sad demise of Ch. Hussan Din Hussan, said that he was an authority on “Si-Harfi” genre of Gojri poetry. He said that Hussan had contributed most valuable work to Gojri language and his writing would be documented on priority by the Academy which will defiantly provide a source of inspirations and guidance for new generations. His last rites were held at his home town Surankote. Thousands of tribals participated in his last rituals.
