Jammu bandh call for May 8
5/7/2009 12:18:10 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 6 : Supported by various political and non-political bodies, the winter capital would observe a day long Jammu bandh on May 8 against atrocities on Sikhs by Taliban in Pakistan.
‘’In the wake of attacks and no security arrangements to the Sikh and Hindu families displaced by violence and fighting between militants and security forces in Pakistan’s North Western Frontier Province (NWFP), Jammu will observe a complete bandh,’’ Ramesh Arora, BJP spokesperson, claimed at a press conference here this afternoon.
Arora said the call was given by the state unit of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bar Association of Jammu, which would be supported by the BJP.
‘’This is unfortunate that more than 150 Sikh and Hindu families have moved to the Punjab province for shelter after a military operation was launched last week to flush out the Taliban,’’ Mr Arora alleged.
