PM Modi's "Healthy India" vision gaining strength in J&K: Balbir | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 6: In a significant step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a "Healthy India," Jammu & Kashmir has taken a major stride. The Government Ayurvedic Medical College in Akhnoor, has got nod for seven new postgraduate (PG) courses - a development that not only marks the expansion of traditional medical education but also reflects a strong effort to make the region's healthcare system self-reliant. Senior BJP leader and former Vice Chairman Balbir Ram Rattan welcomed the decision, calling it a historic achievement in the implementation of PM Modi's vision of a Healthy India in Jammu & Kashmir. He made these observations while discussing the ongoing progress in healthcare services in J&K with key BJP workers. Participating in the discussion were BJP Media In-charge Dr. Pradeep Mahotra, BJP Health Cell Co-convener Pooja Grover, Guldev Raj Bhagat, Dr. Ramzan, and others. Balbir noted that this announcement comes shortly after the central government approved 190 new MBBS seats in government medical colleges of Jammu & Kashmir for the academic session 2025-26. This will significantly increase the total number of seats, directly benefiting local youth, who can now access quality medical education within their own region. Balbir Ram Rattan emphasized that parallel progress in both Ayurveda and modern allopathy is part of Prime Minister Modi's "comprehensive healthcare" approach. This model not only balances dependence on modern medicine but also revives India's traditional knowledge systems. With the approval of PG courses, new employment opportunities, research avenues, and self-reliance in the health sector will be ensured for the youth of Jammu & Kashmir. This step is expected to attract students from across North India to Jammu, potentially establishing the region as a new hub for traditional medical education. Expressing gratitude to the Ministry of AYUSH and the Jammu & Kashmir administration, Balbir said that the Prime Minister Modi's vision is to make every Indian citizen self-reliant in the field of health. The approval of PG courses for the Akhnoor Ayurvedic College is a part of that vision, which will lead Jammu & Kashmir toward self-sufficiency in medical education and healthcare services |
