In the elections, Mr. Syed Nazir Hussain Shah was elected as President unopposed. His uncontested victory is a clear testament to the unwavering trust and confidence the community places in his leadership.
Meanwhile, the contest for the position of General Secretary was highly competitive between Mr.Dr Syed Nusrat Shah and Mr. Shujaat Khan.
Mr. Syed Nusrat Shah secured victory with 115 votes, while Mr. Shujaat Khan obtained 109 votes, finishing a close second by a narrow margin.
This contest proved to be highly intense and engaging, with uncertainty prevailing until the final moments.
For the post of Treasurer, Mr. Sabtain Ansari and Mr.Dr Syed Waqar Hussain Shah faced each other.
Mr. Sabtain Ansari achieved a remarkable victory with a commanding majority, securing 161 votes, while Mr. Waqar Hussain Shah received 62 votes and came in second.
It is worth noting that out of 234 registered members, including the heads of Shia associations across the Jammu Province, 224 participated in the voting process. This high turnout made the election historic and vibrant, demonstrating the community’s trust and confidence in the process for the first time in the province.
For ensuring a transparent election, two polling stations were established:
The first polling station was set up at Karbala Complex in Jammu, where voters from Jammu and Chandrkot cast their votes.
The second polling station was located at Imam Bargah Aaliya in Sarnakot, where voters from Poonch and Rajouri districts exercised their right to vote.
It is noteworthy that the election process was conducted peacefully, in an organized and transparent manner. The large voter turnout reflects the fact that the Shia Federation of Jammu is regarded as a symbol of trust and reliability.
As a result of these elections, a strong and dynamic leadership has emerged. With the election of President Mr. Syed Nazir Hussain Shah, General Secretary Mr. Dr.Syed Nusrat Shah, and Treasurer Mr. Sabtain Ansari, it is expected that the Shia Federation of Jammu will play an even more active role in the coming days and undertake significant initiatives for the unity and development of the community
