Karra led Congress team visits Garkhal, Pargwal border areas, met affected people

JAMMU, Sept 8: JKPCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra alongwith a team of Senior Congress leaders today undertook an extensive tour of the extreme border areas of Garkhal, Pargwal, Hamirpur in Akhnoor area to take stock of the devastation caused by rain & massive floods ,uprooting & affecting large population.
Accompanied by Working President Shri Raman Bhalla, former ministers Mula Ram, Yogesh Sawhney, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Ex MLA Balbir Singh, Sdr T S Tony DDC, Chairman ST Wing Ch Hussain Ali Wafa ,Contesting candidate Prof Ashok Bhagat, Chairman Kissan Congress Bharat Priye Chairman JKPCC Kisan Congress, Kuldeep Sharma and Several others ,the PCC President undertook extensive tour of the entire border belt worst affected during the recent rains and devastating floods.
Several people had to be rescued from the area including airlifting of some tribal families from Garkhal area.The pargwal , Dhanpur & Hamirpur corner ,zero line near border post were cut off, damaging road link, the entire paddy & maize crop, fodder grass,& large number of kachha & thatched huts. were flooded ,destroyed & damaged badly.
The Congress team visited several extreme border areas and met large number of people who came to explain their woes apart from the current destruction of current flood, their issues & sufferings of border areas.
Shri Karra interacted with the people at various places including large number of women to know their hardships and demands ,who narrated their issues including water, power, restoration road connectivity, bridges complaining deoat delay in the completion of vital Bridge at Indri connecting over 20000 population. They explained the main reason of breach is due to illegal mining, lack of administrative reinforcement of embankment besides non laying of embankment of over 35 meters nearby tribal population. Their animals were washed away and demanded immediate relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction besides re locations.
Shri Karra assured to take up and highlight their genuine issues before the government in UT and at centre and too press for comprehensive package from Centre to mitigate their hardships.
JKPCC Chief commended the border population who are the unarmed soldiers of the country on extreme border and face the hostilities of hostile Pakistan. He said it is the duty of government to provide them all support and all basic facilities of life in order to cultivate the agriculture lands.
He said that Congress party would take up their issues with the central leadership too to highlight their problems and meet their needs of life.
Earlier JKPCC Chief visited Katal Battal Nagrota, Gorkha Nagar Jammu, Gujjar Nagar and parts of city to listen to the problems of affected people and assured them to take up their issues.
