Jammu, Sept 8: Government Degree College, Kakryal, Katra, in collaboration with NSS unit, N-Cord, IQAC, Red Ribbon Club organised a seminar on the theme “Teachers as Nation Builders: A Tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan". The event was conducted to pay homage to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India, eminent philosopher, and great teacher, whose birthday is celebrated as Teacher’s Day across the nation.
The seminar was conducted under the able guidance of the Principal of the college, who emphasized on the significance of Teacher’s Day and encouraged the students to participate in the event. She stated that Dr. Radhakrishnan’s vision of education continues to guide us in the modern era as well. In total Five students participated in the seminar namely Sakshi (5th sem), Shivani (5th sem), Manesh (5th sem), Pallavi (3rd sem) and Anuradha (3rd sem) who shared their insights on the theme, stressing the transformative power of education and the responsibility of teachers as torchbearers of knowledge, ethics, and social values.
They reflected on Dr. Radhakrishnan’s contributions as a philosopher and statesman and reiterated the importance of adopting his ideals in today’s education system. They expressed their gratitude towards their mentors and acknowledged the guiding role teachers play in personal and national development.
The faculty members who were present includes Dr. Harmeet Singh, Prof. Shikha Bhasin, Prof. Nasar, Dr. Usha Sharma, Dr. Manisha Kumari, Dr. Harmeet Kour and Prof. Younis Salem.
