Early Times Report POONCH, Sept 8: The 43rd death anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was observed with solemnity and reverence in Poonch Haveli today. The programme was headed by Hon'ble MLA Poonch Haveli, Mr. Ajaz Ahmed Jan, and attended by district and block-level leaders, party functionaries, and a large number of workers. On the occasion, rich floral tributes were paid to the great leader, who is remembered as the architect of modern Jammu & Kashmir. Participants highlighted his remarkable contributions in strengthening democracy, empowering the common people, and promoting secular and progressive values in society. Addressing the gathering, MLA Poonch Haveli, Mr. Ajaz Ahmed Jan, said that Sheikh Abdullah's life was dedicated to the upliftment of the downtrodden and marginalized sections of society. He stressed that his vision of justice, equality, and communal harmony continues to remain relevant for present and future generations. A large number of prominent leaders and speakers paid tributes and shared their views, including Haji Bagh Hussain Rathore, Sayeed Anayat Bukhari, Shameem Dar, Narinder Singh Talwar, Peer Khurshaid Shah, Sofi Qayoom, Naresh Chander, Shahzad Khan, Hazara Singh, Molvi Fareed, Mohd Akbar, Manzoor Mayer, Shivrattan Thakur, Kh. Abdul Razzak, Ajmal Khan, Ghulam Hussain Bhatti, Abdul Jabbar Tantray, Mukhtar Rathore, Parvinder Singh, Kuljeet Singh, Mir Mohammad, Ikhlaq Parray, Aslam Malik, Mohd Safeer, Azeem Khan, and Molvi Hafeez. The speakers unanimously recalled Sheikh Abdullah's historic role in shaping the political, social, and developmental landscape of Jammu & Kashmir. They reiterated their commitment to carry forward his mission of peace, unity, and progress. The programme concluded with special prayers for the eternal peace of Sheikh Abdullah's soul, and a pledge by all present to uphold his ideals in public life. |
