| Kamal files nominations for Hazratbal assembly segment | | | Early Times Report Srinagar: Former Minister and senior National Conference leader Mustafa Kamal on Friday submitted his nomination papers for the by-polls to the Hazratbal assembly constituency that will go to polls on May 30. Reports reaching said that Kamal submitted his nomination papers for the Hazratbal constituency on Friday. With Kamal’s nomination, seven people have so far sought the nomination forms while as three aspirants have submitted them back. On Monday, Election commission had issued fresh notification for Hazratbal by-polls which were necessitated after the National Conference president Farooq Abdullah resigned earlier this year. As per the notification, the last date for filing nomination papers has been fixed as May 11 while as scrutiny of nominations will be done the next day. May 14 has been fixed as last day for withdrawal of candidatures. The polling is scheduled to be held on May 30 between 7 am and 5 pm while as June 6 has been fixed as the date before which the election shall be completed. The opposition parties had created hue and cry and accused the returning officer of the Hazratbal constituency for accepting the ‘invalid and incomplete’ nomination papers of Kamal by flouting the rules. The Election Commission had reasoned rescinding to the “improper acceptance” of nomination papers of Kamal by the Returning Officer.
