Bus Stand Police seizes suspected adulterated sweets, paneer, samples | | | early times report
Jammu, Sept 9: In a continued action to ensure public health and safety, Police Station Bus Stand Jammu, during routine patrolling and checking, intercepted two vehicles—Maruti ECO (JK02BF-3640) and Scooty (JK02CB-1221)—found transporting suspected adulterated food items. On inspection, police recovered approximately 30 boxes of Soan Papadi (150 kg), 12 boxes of Barfi (60 kg), 2 bags of Boondi (50 kg), and Paneer weighing around 88 kg. The consignment was found being transported in violation of the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSAI). The seized items were kept in police custody, and the Food Safety Department was immediately informed. A team of officers from the department reached the spot, lifted legal samples of paneer and sweets, and subsequently seized the entire stock, which was handed over to the Food Business Operator (FBO) for safe custody. The matter was also brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner, Food Safety, and senior police officers. As per preliminary observations of the Food Safety authorities, the recovered items are suspected to be adulterated. Analytical reports have been enclosed for further reference and confirmation. This proactive action reflects the strong commitment of Jammu Police towards protecting citizens from health hazards posed by adulterated food products and ensuring strict enforcement of food safety laws. |
