KVK Reasi trains tribal farmers on organic, natural farming

reasi, Sept 9: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized training programme on organic farming/natural farming/cow based economy/sustainable agriculture for tribal farmers here today at Jadh village in Reasi district of J&K which was attended by a number of tribal farmers of the area.
The programme was organised under the dynamic stewardship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.B.N.Triptahi and able guidance of Director Extension (DE), Prof.Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J.
The programme was initiated by the Chief Scientist & Head,KVK Reasi,Dr.Banarsi Lal with warm welcome of the participants.
While addressing the farmers he spoke in detail on the significance of the programme and discussed on the potential of organic and natural farming in the area.
During the technical session he gave a detail view on principles and practices of organic and natural farming.
He elaborated the scientific guidelines on organic and natural farming and narrated that there is dire need to adopt the eco-friendly agricultural practices to protect our soil and environment health which further can help us to produce the healthy and safe food.
He explained some important soil formulations for the enrichment of soil.
He also guided the participants on crops productivity enhancement techniques while sustaining soil and ecosystem health through organic and natural farming.
He explained the methods of preparation of organic inputs like jeevamrit,beejamrit,ghanjeevamrit,neemastra,agniastra etc. used in natural farming.
He also discussed on the use of Farm Yard Manures (FYM), vermicompost, biofertlizers, biofungicides, biopesticides, neem oil,neem cake etc. in the soil for the organic farming.
He spoke on crops rotation, pulses production, multiple cropping, microbial cultures etc. in the organic farming.He also highlighted the four pillars of natural farming and explained the practices of natural farming.
He guided farmers on mulching and recycling of organic matter in organic and natural farming. He added that by growing the organic fruits and vegetables farmers can fetch more farm returns and some more income and employment opportunities can be created in the area. He also guided the farmers on the use of organic fodder and good quality organic feed for the organic animal husbandry.
He also guided on various schemes such as Soil Health Card Scheme,Pardhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana(PMFBY),PM-KISAN etc.
He interacted with the farmers during the interactive session on organic and natural farming and replied various quarries raised by the participants.
He urged the farmers to avail the benefits of such types of useful programmes to upgrade their skills and knowledge on organic and natural farming.During the programme organic inputs were also provided to the tribal farmers farmers.Farmers thanked KVK Reasi for organising such use a beneficial programme.
A field visit was also organised during the programme.The programme was concluded by Sh.Manohar Lal with the formal vote of thanks.
