The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Centre celebrates Royal Charter Day

JAMMU, Sept 9: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre celebrated Royal Charter Day at Institutional Complex, Sector -3, Channi Himmat, Jammu. The function was attended by Engineers from various Departments, Organizations and Senior Engineers along with Members of the Committee of IEI, Jammu Local Centre.
On this occasion, Er Devinder Singh Pawar, FIE, Former Member (Technical), J&K State Electricity Regulatory Commission was the Chief Guest whereas Er Anil Verma, FIE; Chairman, IEI Jammu Local Centre presided over the function.
At the outset, Er. Anil Verma presented the Welcome Address and introduced the relevance of the day to the august audience. In his address, he said this day is celebrated not only to commemorate a significant milestone in our Institution's history but also to reflect upon the enduring legacy of engineering excellence that has shaped our country, region and profession. He emphasized that the engineers are at the forefront of addressing issues such as sustainability, renewable energy, digitalization and infrastructure development. It was followed by Keynote Address by Er. Rabinder Shekher, FIE; Former Honorary Secretary, IEI Jammu Local Centre & former Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department, J&K Govt. He described about the History, Relevance & Privileges granted to the Institution by virtue of being given the Royal Charter by His Majesty, The King and Emperor George V at the Court of Buckingham Palace, London on 9th of September, 1935. Pertinently, IEI is the only professional body in India to have been granted this Royal Charter and it practises these privileges even today in Independent India.
During the course of celebrations of this day, Er. P. K. Nanda FIE; Former Honorary Secretary Jammu Centre also spoke on the Role of Engineers in Developing India. He highlighted that the Engineers are the architects for overall development of the mankind besides being one of the important pillars of the world to provide sustainable Environment.
Er. Devinder Singh Pawar, FIE; Chief Guest while concluding lauded the elaborate address of the Keynote Speaker and appreciated the efforts of the Jammu Local Centre for organizing this event.
In the end, Er. Avneet Gupta, MIE; Honorary Secretary conducted the proceedings of the seminar and presented the Vote of Thanks to the august gathering and media personnel for active participation.
