Early Times Report Jammu, May 8v- Prof. B. Labh, Head, department of Buddhist Studies, University of Jammu, an eminent of scholar of Buddhism, recognized nationally and internationally was invited as a special guest to attend the International Buddhist Conference in Bangkok on the occasion of United Nations’ Vesak Day celebrations (May 04-09, 2009). The Conference was hosted by Buddhist University, Bangkok (Thailand). The focal theme of the Conference was ‘World Crisis and its redress in the light of the Buddha’s Teachings.’ Prof. Labh presented his Research paper entitled: “Buddhism and the Present World Crisis”, which was widely acclaimed by the scholars hailing from 72 countries of the World. In his deliberations Prof. Labh talked about various sorts of crises like personal, conjugal, social, environmental, economic, financial, health etc. and emphasized on the basic thinking of man which puts him in such a situation, where one starts thinking lonesome and insecure and which creates crisis. The Buddha’s teachings of social concern with humanistic outlook may provide a way out as they promote involvement, reduction of tension and further result in addressing crisis, Prof Labh added.
