jammu, Sept 10: As part of the Greening J&K Initiative, a large-scale plantation was organised by “Chinar Eco Warriors” in collaboration with State Forest Department, J&K which culminated with a event organised at Santosh Memorial Gurudwara Sahib. The highlight of the event was the plantation of more than 16,000 saplings across Kathua and Samba, at various locations such as Higher Secondary School Nav Vidya Mandir, Govt Girls Middle School Simblana, Samba Village Koulpur, Rehyan, Raipur Camp, Haripur, Kamala, Marheen and Mangu Chak. The initiative reinforced the region’s ecological balance to accelerate greening J&K mission. A special plantation drive was also carried out at Santosh Memorial Gurudwara Sahib, Kattal Gujjran, co-inciding with the 53rd remembrance day of Late Lt Col Santosh Kumar, who participated in the 1971 war. A Public Address (PA) system was also presented to Gurudwara Sahib on behalf of Lt Col Manmohan Nath Dutt (Retired), his comrade in arms. The event concluded with a collective pledge by all present including State Forest Department J&K officials, soldiers, veterans, civilians, and local youth to carry forward the mission of Greening Jammu & Kashmir. State Forest Officials and local authorities acknowledged the initiative of Naib Subedar Mohinder Kumar and Naib Subedar Mintu Kumar in successfully coordinating the massive events across Kathua and Samba districts. |
