| HC directive to PSC in lecturer’s case | | | Early Times report Jammu, May 08- Justice Mohammed Yaqoob Mir of J&K High Court Jammu Wing, in a petition filed by Summit Pal Kaur, who applied for the post of lecturer in 10+2, has issued notice to State of J&K through Commissioner/Secretary School Education and Secretary PSC returnable within three weeks and directed respondents to entertain the application of petitioner for the post of lecturer 10+2 in the discipline of functional English, if not otherwise barred. Justice Mir, after considering the submissions made and the material available on the record observed that at this stage submission of the counsel for the petitioner has substance, therefore, until filling of objections and determination, therefore, respondents are directed to entertain the application of the petitioner for the post of lecturer (10+2) in the discipline of functional English, if not otherwise barred, Court ordered. In the petition it has been submitted that pursuant to advertisement notice March 9, 2009 applications were invited for the post of lecturer (10+2) in various disciplines which included discipline of Functional English. As per the advertisement notice essential qualification which include functional was prescribed as Master Degree in relevant subject. Advocate BL Kalgotra appearing for the petitioner submitted that there is no separate master’s degree in Functional English whereas the petitioner has done Master Degree in English, in addition has done his post graduate diploma in teaching of English. It is only post graduate diploma in teaching of English which is known courses; no other master degree exists anywhere in any university, he said. JNF
