Centre for Molecular Biology, CUJ hosts Induction cum Orientation program

Jammu, Sept 14: The Centre for Molecular Biology, Central University of Jammu under the visionary leadership and with immense support of Hon’ble Vice chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain organised the students Induction cum orientation program 2025 to welcome the newly admitted students for Integrated B.Sc.-M.Sc. Biotechnology and M.Sc. Biotechnology program. The students in both the programs have been admitted through the CUET and Department of Biotechnology, GOI supported GATB-25 based entrance examination ranking. This year the Centre for Molecular Biology, Central University of Jammu attracted a very large number of applications for both the programs. The Centre has admitted high-ranking students from all over India with great diversity for both the program.
The event was designed to facilitate the students' transitions into the university ecosystem and update them with academic rules & regulations, university infrastructure, creative and supportive cultural environment, and opportunities offered by the university for career and personal growth. The event marked the beginning of their academic journey with an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and encouragement.
The program opened on a graceful note with the soulful Saraswati Vandana followed by the address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain to the august gathering with an inspiring message that “Education is about developing curiosity and the courage to ask questions that shape the science that serves the betterment of human societies”. His words resonated deeply with the young minds in the hall. He interacted with students and encouraged them to engage their energies and talents in excelling in the ac ademics and research in the field of biotechnology for improving the lives of the citizens of Bharat, our beloved nation.
Further, the Centre for Molecular Biology has started the first batch of Integrated B.Sc.-M.Sc. Biotechnology program from this year.
The HVC Prof. Sanjeev Jain, has sanctioned and announced the support of Rs. 2.5 crore to the Centre for development and upgrade of the laboratory setup for better laboratory and research skill development of the students of the centre.
The august gathering of the faculty members of the centre, scholars and students, was also addressed by the Dean, School of Life Sciences, Prof. Sunil Dhar. In his message to the students, he emphasized the role of the rapidly evolving field of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology in the developing economy and betterment of society.
He said that “the more you participate and explore the laboratories the more you will realize your true potential to contribute to research and discovery.”
Further the gathering was addressed by the Director, CMB, Dr. Narendra K Bairwa, he welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, scholars, newly admitted students, and seniors.
He expressed his and on behalf of faculty members of the centre, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Dr. Praveen K Mehta, Dr. Shelly Sehgal, Dr. Audesh Bhat, Dr. Sudhir Singh, Dr. Fareeda Akhtar a heartfelt gratitude to HVC Prof. SanjeevJain for starting integrated B.Sc.-M.Sc. Biotechnology program and support for laboratory setup and upgrade of infrastructure to the centre.
Dr. Bairwa also interacted with the students and assured them all possible academic support and help in the pursuit of their education and skill development in the Central University of Jammu under the able guidance of faculty members and with the support of university administration and staff members.
He highlighted the recent policy announcement and implementation by the Government of India on BIOE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment) policy and importance of Biotechnology in present time and coming future.
