Jammu, Sept 14: The Kashmiri Pandit Blood Bank (KPBB) has emerged as a lifeline for flood-affected families in Jammu. From the first day of the calamity, KPBB volunteers have been on the ground surveying homes, listening to families, and delivering targeted relief with discipline and care. At the forefront is Ashwani Sadhu, social activist and lead bird of KPBB, whose guidance has been instrumental. A half-centurion blood donor, Sadhu has always promoted humanity above caste, creed, or color, inspiring others to serve selflessly. In the past week, KPBB has conducted multiple drives: Peerkho (6 Sept): 60 families given beds, mattresses, pillows, sheets & tarpaulins. Peerkho (2nd round): Buckets & sanitary kits for 160 ladies to ensure better hygiene. Rajeev Colony: Cleaning of the Shiv temple followed by relief for caretakers and nearby residents; buckets & sanitary kits for families, and healthy biscuits for 50 children. Nai Basti, Muthi 2 (13 Sept): Sanitary kits for 160 ladies, school bags, notebooks and stationery for 150 children, 20 folding beds with mattresses & sheets, plus mosquito nets for families sleeping in the open. What sets KPBB apart is its survey-based model relief only after personal interaction with families, ensuring fairness and dignity. These efforts have been powered by generous sponsors in India and abroad and the tireless teamwork of volunteers. KPBB will now extend surveys to outer areas beyond Jammu city to prepare for the next phase of support, while appealing to authorities for stronger institutional help. With humility, courage, and leadership rooted in humanity, KPBB continues to prove that citizen-led action can bring light in the darkest times.
