IIM Jammu conducts cleanliness drive as part of Swachhata Pakhwada

JAMMU, Sept 14: Indian Institute of Management Jammu, under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, observed Swachhata Pakhwada from 1st to 15th September 2025 at its Jagti Campus. As part of the fortnight-long initiative, a special Cleanliness Drive was organized on 14th Sept 2025, reaffirming the Institute's commitment to hygiene, environmental sustainability, and community responsibility.
The Cleanliness Drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, officers, staff, and students, who actively took part in the initiative, underscoring the importance of cleanliness in daily life. Multiple groups comprising students, faculty, and staff carried out cleanliness activities across different areas of the campus, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu, highlighted that Swachhata Pakhwada is a reminder of the role educational institutions must play in shaping environmentally conscious leaders of tomorrow. He underscored the importance of sustainable practices that align with the vision of a self-reliant India.
Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu, stated that Swachhata Pakhwada reflects the Institute's vision of creating socially responsible leaders. He emphasized that environmental consciousness and sustainable living are essential values that must be integrated into academic learning and daily practice.
Dr. Ashish Kumar, Chairperson, Student Affairs, IIM Jammu, remarked that the participation of students in large numbers is a testimony to their awareness and commitment towards cleanliness and sustainability. He added that such drives instill a sense of discipline, ownership, and responsibility among the younger generation.
Also present during the occasion were Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research; Prof. Ravij Seth, Professor of Practice; Prof. P.P. Maheshwari, Professor of Practice; Prof. Prashant Mishra, Professor of Practice; and Dr. Dhirendra Prajapati, Assistant Professor, IIM Jammu, along with officers, staff, and students of IIM Jammu.
The event was supported by Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran, Chief Administrative Officer, IIM Jammu; Dr. Ashish Kumar, Chairperson, Student Affairs; and Dr. Harsha Jariwala, Co-Chairperson, Student Affairs, IIM Jammu, along with the Student Affairs Office, ensuring smooth coordination and active involvement.
Through Swachhata Pakhwada, IIM Jammu continues its mission to inspire positive change and foster a culture of cleanliness, responsibility, and sustainability, shaping responsible leaders for the nation.
