Early Times Report LUCKNOW, Sept 14: DFCCIL Leadership Meets Hon'ble Governor and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to Strengthen State's Role in India's Freight Corridor Vision. A high-level delegation of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) led by Shri Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, along with Shri A. B. Saran, Chief General Manager/Prayagraj, and Shri Ashish Mishra, Group General Manager/Security, Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, called on Hon'ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel, and Hon'ble Chief Minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath. The meeting focused on the transformative impact of the Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFC) in Uttar Pradesh and the immense opportunities they bring for industry, logistics, and the state's economic growth. Praveen Kumar also presented a specially curated DFCCIL book, capturing milestones, engineering marvels, and the future vision of the Corporation in reshaping freight movement across the country. Uttar Pradesh: The Nerve Centre of India's Freight Corridors With nearly 1,100 km of the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors passing through Uttar Pradesh, the state has emerged as the geographical and operational heart of India's freight network. This includes critical sections such as Dadri-Khurja, Kanpur-Mughalsarai, Bhaupur-Khurja, and the upcoming connections to multimodal terminals and industrial nodes. The DFC's double-line, electrified, high-axle load infrastructure is designed for trains running upto 100 km/h, carrying longer, heavier, and faster freight trains. These high-capacity corridors are expected to triple the average speed of freight train on conventional lines, significantly cutting logistics costs and improving turnaround time for industries. Driving Energy Security & Industrial Growth The corridors have already strengthened the coal evacuation system, enabling faster and more reliable deliveries to powerhouses in Uttar Pradesh and adjoining states. This is critical for ensuring energy security, especially during peak demand, as uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power plants minimizes risks of power shortages. The DFC also carries foodgrains, cement, fertilizers, petroleum products, and steel, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh's role as a transit hub for bulk commodities feeding industries and consumer markets nationwide. Multimodal Hubs and Economic Impact The logistics hubs at Kanpur, Khurja, Dadri, and Dankaur, along with proposed multimodal terminals, are emerging as magnets for fresh industrial investment. These hubs are expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities, foster agro-processing industries, and enable manufacturing competitiveness by reducing transport delays and costs. By integrating with the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Eastern Economic Corridor, the DFC will further unlock trade potential for Uttar Pradesh, positioning it as a critical gateway for domestic and international cargo flows.
