Rise in dengue cases matter of concern: Balbir | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 14: Expressing deep concern over the continuous rise in dengue cases in Jammu and Kashmir, senior BJP leader and former Vice Chairman Balbir Ram Rattan has appealed to the Health Department to take more effective steps to control the infection. According to the latest data, a total of 411 dengue cases have been reported in the Union Territory so far, with 21 new cases recorded in just the past 24 hours. Unfortunately, one person has died due to the disease. Balbir Ram Rattan stated that both the government and the public need to work together to prevent mosquito-borne diseases like dengue. He emphasized that the Health Department and municipalities should intensify fogging, anti-larvae spraying, and public awareness campaigns. He also appealed to the public to maintain cleanliness in and around their homes, avoid water accumulation, and wear clothing that covers the entire body. Rattan highlighted the need to strengthen health services in both rural and urban areas. He suggested that every Primary Health Center should be equipped with facilities for dengue testing and treatment. He also stressed the need to speed up the process of identifying and reporting suspected cases. He remarked that dengue is not just a health issue, but a social challenge that can only be addressed through collective efforts. He urged schools, panchayats, and social organizations to contribute to spreading awareness. Balbir Ram Rattan urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to establish a special high-level monitoring committee to keep a constant watch on the dengue situation and ensure timely and effective action. |
