| Political stability, economic renaissance our agenda: Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report Baramulla, May 09- Asserting that her party’s agenda is based on fundamental principle of bringing sustainable peace, political stability and economic renaissance to Jammu and Kashmir, the PDP President said that “PDP is striving for a space of dignity and opportunity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in a larger paradigm of cooperative relationship in the region,”. She said PDP strongly believes that nothing is valid and should be happening for Jammu and Kashmir except with the active involvement of its people and maintained that PDP while heading the coalition Government between 2002 and 2005 not only inculcated a sense of security among the people, but had also sparked political, economic and social activity on a phenomenal scale across the State facilitating complete transformation of the situation. Addressing series of public meetings in Rafiabad assembly segment of Baramulla parliamentary constituency today, Mehbooba said the State’s youth shall have to play a crucial role in shaping up a politically emancipated and economically vibrant Jammu and Kashmir. She said the State’s youth have great expectations with the PDP as the party has represented their just concerns and aspirations in a dignified manner. “The youth are our party’s greatest strength,” she said and added that the party would safeguard their interests at whatever level. The youth constitute a vital and vibrant human resource for Jammu and Kashmir and they have a right, as well as an obligation, to participate and contribute actively in the endeavor for the State’s political and economic emancipation, she added. Seeking mandate for the party candidate Mohammad Dilawar Mir in the ongoing Lok Sabh polls, Mehbooba said given his passion for the welfare of the fruit growers and agriculturalists, Mir would passionately raise the issues concerning the development of the horticulture sector at various forums outside the State. “The PDP has already taken some revolutionary measures by abolishing toll tax on fruit and doing away with the Jaagirdari practice of imposing land revenue on the poor farmers,” she said. Mehbooba said Dillawar Mir’s contribution as the PHE minister is a vivid indicator of his performance and in his capacity as a minister his endeavor was to make available safe drinking water facilities to the remotest corners of the State in general and neglected areas of Baramulla and Kupwara districts in particular. She said the people of the area have always given him their unflinching support and during the ongoing polls she would expect them to show same kind of solidarity with Mir. PDP candidate for Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency Mohammad Dilawar Mir also addressed the meetings.
