Jammu, Sept 15: Jammu Regional Centre of IGNOU celebrated the culmination of its fortnight-long Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 with a valedictory function held today at its Bantalab Campus. The two-week campaign, observed from September 1, 2025 to September 15, 2025 saw enthusiastic participation from all employees and underscored Regional Centre’s dedication to the principles of Swachh Bharat Mission.
The valedictory ceremony, presided over by Shri Sat Sharma, Former MLA and Cabinet Minister and State President BJP as the Chief Guest, served as a platform to acknowledge the collective efforts of Regional Centre management and staff in making the Pakhwada a resounding success. Rekha Manhas, Corporator, Er. Ashish Sharma, Superintendent Engineer, PHE (Retd.), Sh. Romesh Sharma, Veteran Badminton Champion, Sh. Jasvinder Singh, Social Activist, Sh. Nand Kishore, District President BJP, were among the dignitaries present on the occasion. Deputy Director, RC Jammu, Dr. Asha Upadhyay, and Assistant Regional Directors, Dr. Vikram Singh and Dr. Zeba were also present.
Throughout the fortnight, a wide array of activities was conducted, including Intensive Cleanliness Drives, Comprehensive cleaning activities were carried out across all office premises, workspaces, corridors, and common areas, Awareness Campaigns were organized to promote environmental sustainability, and encourage eco-friendly alternatives.
Various competitions, such as slogan writing, essay writing, and painting competitions, were held to foster a participatory approach and raise awareness on the importance of cleanliness. The painting competition organized at Central Sanskrit University, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu campus saw a huge participation of students in the presence of Prof. Satish Kumar Kapoor, Director and Dr. Madan Jha, Coordinator of IGNOU LSC 12132 operating from the campus. During the fortnight, Tree Plantation Drives were conducted within the premises to increase green cover and promote a cleaner, greener environment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director, congratulated all participants for their active involvement and asserted that the success of this Swachhata Pakhwada is a testament to the collective effort of every individual at the Regional Centre.
“More than just a campaign, cleanliness must be an integral part of our daily lives and organizational culture. Let us carry forward this momentum and ensure that the spirit of Swachhata continues throughout the year”, said Shri Sat Sharma, Chief Guest of the valedictory ceremony. Shri Sat Sharma also planted a tree sapling in the campus and termed it as investing in a healthier, greener future for our community and future generations. He addressed the students to make Swachhata as a way of life and distributed study material among them.
“The successful observance of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 highlights IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu’s steadfast commitment to the national Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The Regional Centre pledges to continue its initiatives to promote a clean, hygienic, and sustainable work environment”, said Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director.
