| Ishwinder Memorial Lecture: Prof Sahni speaks on ‘Business in a world of Flux’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 9 Vice Chancellor University of Jammu Prof varun Sahni today delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Business in a world of Flux: Fundamental Driver of Contemporary World Affairs’ here at Business School. He was addressing the gathering present on the occasion of Annual Ishwinder Dass Memorial lecture an annual feature of the Jammu University. In his key note address, Prof Varun Sahni gave detail deliberation on power sharing, power generation, military extension of the power in world, globalization, cultural extremism, environment breakdown etc. Referring to power generation the Vice Chancellor speaking on this occasion said that US using power for conquer, deter, punishment and Police. He said power generation is problem in US because it is not willing to become a imperial constabulary. He however maintained unified combatant commands are in whole world and closely watching the things happened in whole world. ‘US dominated the whole world in terms of power, trade, service to entire world in technology etc which is not going to disappear until countries like India, China, Brazil will become richer and more powerful in the decades to come, Prof Sahni said. Commenting on globalization, he said that globalization is all about material interconnection, subject awareness, time space compression and alteration of territorial reality. He said globalization based on fundamental technology, sociological changes which likely to be long lasting and Asia pacific emerge as major power centres besides new-Delhi a traditional power centre in whole world. Weight of the world rapidly shifted to the Asia pacific, he maintained and stressed on Business students to learn Asian languages, build social harmony and understand the new technology like Information Technology, Bio-technology and Nano-technology as these technologies have the potential to replace human with machines. During his lecture, Prof Varun Sahni also deliberated upon disintegration, cultural extremism, environment breakdown etc and gave valuable tips to students of Business School. Earlier, Prof Keshav Sharma, Director TBS, presented the welcome address and told about the genesis of Ishwinder Mahajan Lecture Series. It is to mention that Ishwinder Mahajan was a faculty with TBS and died at the age of 35 in a tragic rail accident and a lecture series was started by The Business School (TBS) in the year 2006 in her memory.
