| DB issued notice in PIL against Fake ST Certificates | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 09 A Division Bench comprising Justice Nirmal Singh and Justice Sunil Hali of J&K High Court Jammu Wing in Public Interest Litigation filed against fake schedule tribe certificates after hearing Adv Shah Mohd Choudhary appearing for the PIL issued notice to state of J&K and ors for filling objections. A PIL (public Interest Litigation) was filed by Mohd Anwar Choudhary a non official member of Advisory Board for the development of Gujjars and Bakerwals seeking direction to the State of J&K to constitute scrutiny committee to scrutinize social status certificates issued in the state of J&K from 1991 onwards particularly scheduled tribes certificates and also seeking direction to constitute District Level Scrutiny Committee as per the directions/ guidelines framed by the Apex Court. The petitioner has also alleged that grant of ST status by the Union Govt failed to give respite to the community as some unscrupulous and dishonest elements started procuring fake scheduled tribes certificate by fraudulent means and obtained the benefits of reservation in the service and educational/ professional institutes including medical engineering and agricultural colleges and also in economic establishments. Large scale fakes ST certificates have been issued by the Revenue Authorities or have been flatulently obtained by the spurious and unscrupulous elements particularly in Kashmir valley during militancy days in connivance with revenue authorities, the PIL alleged and sought directions to the respondents to constitute scrutiny committee to scrutinize social status certificates issued in the State of J&K from 1991 onwards.
