| Top LeT operative among three killed | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 9- Three militants including a divisional commander of Lashker-e-Toiba were killed while a policeman was injured in two separate encounters in Ganderbal district in Kashmir and Doda district in Jammu, official sources said on Saturday. A defence ministry spokesman, Lt Col Biplab Nath said that two LeT operatives were killed in an encounter at Dhar area in Doda district of Jammu region at 0015 hours. He said that troops of 10 Rashtriya Rifles and Police launched joint cordon-and-search after specific inputs about the presence of the militants in the area. An encounter ensued and two militants including Divisional Commander of LeT, Abu Samama of Pakistan, and Barak Ali Naik alias Yassir of Chitran Doda. The spokesman also claimed recovery of an AK rifle and a Pistol from the possession of the slain militants. Meanwhile, in an overnight encounter at Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, an unidentified militant was killed while a policeman was injured in the encounter, carried out by the police and its SOG group. Station House Officer Kangan, Affaq Ahmad said Police and SOG launched a search operation at Akhal Kangan village last night. The militant hiding in the area fired indiscriminately on the police party which was on retaliation triggered an encounter and in the ensuing gun battle, which was put on hold overnight due to darkness, an unidentified militant was killed while a cop Heera Lal was injured and has been hospitalized, the sources said. Police has also claimed recovery of an AK-47 rifle, five AK magazines, two Chinese grenades, 110 rounds of ammunition and one pouch from the possession of slain militant.
