Salam demands probe in Gujjar atrocity

Jammu, May 10: State General Secretary (ST Cell) Ch. Salam Din NC and State President Gujjar Islahi Committee, in a press statement issued here has criticized the police action on the gujjar and bakerwals, who had constructed their kulllie’s in a forest land at Nikki Tawi Phana Mandal, Satwari Jammu, He said that these bakerwals were rehabilitating these since last ten years and no one from the Administration did intervene and issued the notices to them to evacuate the occupied land illegally.
He said that it seems that it was a preplanned action these gujjars in which several police and the demonstrators were critically wounded in a gum-battle at the occurrence site.
He said that these gujjar have constructed their shelters and expenses huge money and demanded that compensation should be given to these victims and appealed to the Chief Minister and Forest Minister to ensure the allotment of the land belonging to the forest department and also given compensation to the victims
