Sadhotra slams BJP for compromising with Jammu cause, exposes its politics of deception
9/21/2025 8:28:35 PM

early times report

Jammu, Sept 21: National Conference Additional General Secretary and former Minister, Mr. Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today came down heavily on the BJP for indulging in cheap and negative politics with the sole motive of diverting attention from its monumental failures.
In a statement, Mr Sadhotra said the people of Jammu, who had reposed massive faith in the BJP by giving it an unprecedented mandate, stand today completely betrayed, disillusioned, and angry over the party’s failure to play the role of true representatives of their aspirations.
Mr. Sadhotra said that when the people of Jammu were reeling under the devastation caused by flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides, and incessant rains, the BJP’s only concern was to stage-manage optics and shield its incompetence. Even the much-hyped visit of Union Home Minister Mr Amit Shah failed to bring any substantial relief to the people of Jammu. He said the BJP leadership could not muster the courage or conviction to demand a special financial package for the affected people of Jammu region, adding that this silence stands as a damning indictment of the BJP’s priorities.
Mr Sadhotra accused the BJP of attempting to cover up its failures by launching
unwarranted criticism against the National Conference leadership. This is nothing but a desperate attempt to deflect people’s attention. Their frustration is evident in their venomous rhetoric against National Conference. The reality is that the robust outreach programme launched by Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah over the past one month has rekindled hope among the people. He said Omar Sahib’s massive connect with flood and rain-hit victims has unnerved the BJP, which has been rendered completely irrelevant on the ground. Proactiveness of the administration in assessing and delivering relief has frustrated the BJP.
He said the BJP, instead of standing with the people in this hour of crisis, has chosen to indulge in divisive theatrics.
“By failing to seek justice for Jammu at the highest level, the BJP has insulted the very mandate it received. The party which boasted of being the ‘voice of Jammu’ has been exposed as a hollow slogan-mongering machine. The people are now seeing through their double-speak and deceit,” he said.
Mr. Sadhotra warned the BJP that the era of taking Jammu’s people for granted is over. Public anger is simmering. The youth, farmers, traders, and flood-hit families feel cheated by the BJP’s inaction. Instead of addressing their concerns, the BJP leadership is busy in mudslinging against National Conference. But the more they attack NC, the more people are rallying behind our leadership, because they know National Conference has always stood by them in testing times, he said.
Reiterating the National Conference’s commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with the suffering masses, Mr. Sadhotra said that NC’s history is intertwined with the struggles and sacrifices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Unlike the BJP, which survives on rhetoric, National Conference has a proven record of service, sacrifice, and delivery. The ongoing outreach by Jenab Omar Abdullah is a testimony to NC’s resolve to mitigate the hardships of our people and fight for their rights, whether in Jammu or in Kashmir, he added.
Its failures are written large on the walls. The time has come when the people of Jammu will hold them accountable for betrayal of their trust, he said, asserting that the National Conference will not allow BJP to trample upon the genuine aspirations of the people any longer.
