Jammu, Sept 23: The naka party of Police Post Manwal foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and rescued 13 bovine animals (12 cows and 1 calf) from a truck bearing registration number JK19A-6756.
The vehicle coming from Battal towards Kashmir was signaled to stop at the naka point. However, the driver ignored the signal and fled. The police party immediately chased and intercepted the truck near Kishanpur, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped.
On checking, the truck was found loaded with bovines tied mercilessly and being transported without food or water in a cruel and inhumane manner.
Cognizance has been taken at Police Post Manwal and case FIR NO. 116/2025 U/S 223 BNS 11 PCA has been registered at P/S JHAJJAR KOTLI investigation initiated to trace the accused.
