Far-off tourist destinations to be showcased: Sham

Jammu, May10-The Government is making concerted efforts to develop Dev Sathan of Bua Datti in Baswa village near Chowki Choura in Akhnoor tehsil as tourist spots. This was stated by Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma while attending annual congregation of Bral Brahmin Bradhari at Baswa village about 65 kilometers away from here this evening.
On the occasion, Sharma greeted the families of Bral Brahmin Bradhari.
He said that tourism is the backbone of State’s economy, adding that this sector has tremendous employment potential. He said State government has initiated various measures for promotion of tourism sector in far-off areas of the state for attracting global tourists at a large scale.
Outlining the importance and potential of tourism in Jammu region, the Minister said that it posses a huge captive market of pilgrim tourists that visit the region round the year. He, however, asked for diverting these tourists to Dev Sathan of Bua Datti in Baswa village and Baba Mai Mal in Doori Digger in Akhnoor tehsil and other scenic spots of the region.
Sharma said that the government was taking keen interest to develop medicinal and horticulture parks by planting plants in those areas where no scarcity of irrigation as our J&K state is endowed with a rich wealth of medicinal and horticulture plants. He said that farmers have to be cost conscious and need new strategies of mixing various farming option like Agriculture, Horticulture, Livestock husbandry and Floriculture activities. The horticulture sector of J&K state is most vibrant sector for economic development.
Director Floriculture, Kulbushan Sharma, District Horticulture Officer, Jammu, President Floriculture Growing Association S Tajinder Singh, Sarpanchs, and other senior officers of Floriculture, Horticulture and Health were present on the occasion. Later, the Minister also inspected the ongoing development works in and around the Dev Sathan of Bua Datti and directed the executing agencies to complete these within prescribed time frame for the benefit of devotees.
