Kathua, Sept 24: A book titled “The Vision of Bernard Malamud towards Jewish Identity and Suffering in the Context of his Novels” authored by Dr. Arun Dev Singh, Associate Professor of English, was released at Government Degree College, Marheen. The book was unveiled by Prof. (Dr.) Aunpama Gupta, Principal of the college, in the presence of eminent academicians and faculty members. The release function was graced by special guest Sh. Anu Pawan Singh along with Dr. Balbinder Singh, Prof. Anoop Sharma, Dr. Munisha Devi, Dr. Shallu Rani, Prof. Manu Saini, Dr. Reemi Verma, Dr. Sneh, Dr. Priti Khajuria, Prof. Charan Singh, Dr. Sonia Saini and others. Congratulating Dr. Arun Dev Singh, Principal Dr. Gupta said that the book would prove highly beneficial for research scholars pursuing American Literature across the globe. She praised the author for his scholarly contribution on American fiction and Jewish identity in the works of Bernard Malamud. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Singh highlighted that his book aims to meet the requirements of research scholars exploring American fiction, particularly Bernard Malamud and his contemporaries. He added that Malamud’s works reflected the struggles of Jewish people assimilating into American society while confronting shifting values, existential dilemmas, and the harsh realities of brutality, humiliation, and survival
