Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Sept 25: The Department of Sociology, Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur, organized a symposium and poster-making competition today, to raise awareness about the serious issue of drug abuse. The event, held under the theme "Breaking the Chain: Say No To Drugs," was part of the college's ongoing academic activities. The program was guided by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, who emphasized the importance of educating the public, especially young people, about the devastating consequences of drug abuse. "The purpose of this event is to raise awareness among the general masses, particularly youngsters and teenagers, about the serious issues caused by drug abuse," she stated. Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Swati Dutt, Head of the Department of Sociology, who highlighted the critical importance of the topic in today's society. Thirteen students from various semesters participated in the event, passionately sharing their perspectives on the issue. The competition was judged by a distinguished panel that included Prof. Sunil Magotra (Head of the Department, Hindi), Dr. Sushma Kumari (Head of the Department, Dogri), and Prof. Shama Rani (Assistant Professor, Dogri). In the symposium, Poli Devi won first place, followed by Rubia Begum in second. The third-place position was shared by Rupali Sharma & Taniya Khajuria. For the poster-making competition, Gunjan Sharma took first place, Aprajita Thakur securing second and PunamRanyal third position, respectively. |
