Early Times Report AKHNOOR, Sept 25: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Srinagar Circle, organized a "Swachhata Hi Seva" cleanliness drive today at Akhnoor Fort. The event was graced by Shri Mohan Lal, Member of Legislative Assembly, who participated as the Chief Guest. During this initiative, students from Shub International School joined the cleanliness campaign, spreading awareness about the importance of sanitation. The program began with the welcome address for MLA Mohan Lal, followed by an introductory speech by Jai Karan Singh (Assistant Archaeologist). Addressing the gathering, MLA Mohan Lal emphasized the need to make cleanliness a part of our daily routine and explained how archaeological evidence reveals that toilets were used thousands of years ago, proving that our ancestors also understood the significance of sanitation. During the event, the MLA urged everyone to adopt cleanliness as a daily habit and contribute to a cleaner environment. The students, ASI staff, and other participants engaged in cleaning the fort premises, taking a pledge to uphold cleanliness in their lives. Notable ASI officials who attended the event included Dr. Piyush Bhatt (Superintending Archaeologist), Rakesh Bakshi (Photo Officer), Jai Karan Singh (Assistant Archaeologist), Meenu Khurana (Assistant Archaeologist), Shivakar Sharma (Senior Conservation Assistant), Anjani Singh (Conservation Assistant), and other staff members. Also present were prominent local leaders such as Depesh Singh (BJP Mandal President, Akhnoor), Neeraj Sharma, Rakesh Malhotra, Reena Bhagat, Anil Sharma, Vinay Sapolia, Abhishek, Ayush, Vishal, Sonia Verma, Savita, Raman, and Mohan, who contributed to the success of this meaningful initiative.
