| PDP amalgam of rumour mongers: Omar | | ‘Public mood indicative of landslide victory for NC-Cong coalition’ | | Early Times Report BARAMULLA, May 10: National Conference (NC) leader and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, today claimed that the ruling coalition of NC-Congress would make a clean sweep on all the six Parliamentary constituencies in the current Lok Sabha elections in Jammu & Kashmir. According to him, the public sentiment against the “politics of deceit” was a clear indication of the landslide victory of the coalition candidates on all the six seats in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. While addressing a series of public meetings in Baramulla, Rafiabad and Pattan segments during his whirlwind campaigning in Baramulla district, he said that people had understood the “tricky and deceitful politics of PDP aimed at dividing people to seek power”. Said he: “In these elections, people are out to reject this policy once for all as they want to get rid of the propagators of lies and falsehood”. Omar said that next six years of NC-Congress coalition in the state would be the golden period of development where everyone would enjoy equal opportunity to grow and develop. He said that justice would be the benchmark of the governance of his government. “Our every effort would be to seek welfare for all areas and to reach out to the people in far flung and remote pockets for all-round development”, Chief Minister said and added that whatever commitment he had made to the people during the electioneering of 2008 Assembly elections would be fulfilled. Asking people not to get carried away by the false propaganda of PDP leadership aimed at maligning NC-Congress coalition government, Chief Minister described PDP as an “amalgam of rumour mongers”. “They spread lies, mislead people and fish in the trouble waters”, he said and added that presently PDP is spreading the brazen lie about increasing toll tax by the government which is totally baseless. He said people were themselves witness to the PDP’s backing out with regard to its commitment made to public in 2002 Assembly elections promising two government jobs to each household. “Hollow sloganeering and emotional blackmailing of this party has now become public and people do not trust its leadership at all”, he added. Asking the people to vote for National Conference candidate for Baramulla parliamentary constituency, Sharif-ud-Din Shariq in large number, Omar said that vote to NC candidate means vote to peace and development. He said that National Conference had roots in masses and it had always upheld its commitment to serve the people and represent them in the national fora like Parliament. “We will continue to work towards this direction and seek all round development for Jammu & Kashmir”. The meetings were also addressed by various local NC leaders and legislators who in their speeches highlighted the role of NC and its leadership for the development and peace in Jammu and Kashmir and appealed the general public to come forward and vote for Shariq.
