Early Times Report MAJALTA, Sept 27: Government Degree College Majalta, in collaboration with the Social Forestry Department, organized a Plantation Drive as part of the Sewa Parv celebrations, observed from 17th September to 2nd October 2025. The drive was conducted in the premises of the new college building with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. The event was held under the guidance of the esteemed Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Sharma, and was coordinated by Dr. Dalip Kumar, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences. Students from the NSS Unit, Red Ribbon Club, and Eco Club enthusiastically participated in the initiative and contributed to making the drive a success. The program was also graced by the presence of Dr. Chander Mohan, Prof. Kamal Jeet, and Prof. Mohd Abbas, who appreciated the efforts of the college in fostering environmental consciousness among the youth. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Sharma emphasized the importance of tree plantation in combating climate change and preserving ecological balance. She also encouraged students to continue their active involvement in such green initiatives. The plantation drive concluded with a collective pledge by students and faculty members to protect and nurture the saplings, symbolizing the college's commitment towards building a greener and healthier future. |
