Sher-e-Duggar remembered: Grand “Mahajan Milan” Marks 159th Birth Anniversary of Lala Hans Raj Mahajan

Jammu, Sept 28: In a heartfelt tribute to one of the region’s greatest social reformers, the Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha (JCMS) hosted a grand “Mahajan Milan” to commemorate the 159th birth anniversary of Sher-e-Duggar, Lala Hans Raj Mahajan, at Mahajan Bhawan, Shalamar Road, Jammu. There was huge gathering.
Sh Kavinder Gupta , Hon'ble Lt. Governor of Ladhak U.T Had to grace the function as Chief Guest but he couldnot due to unavoidable circumstances. Sh Kavinder Gupta, in his message sent from LG office , Leh, conveyed his good wishes for organising a grand event to celebrate the 159th birth anniversary of Sher-a-Duggar , Lala Hans Raj Mahajan.He also congratulated all those personalities of the Mahajan Biradari who were honoured on their splended contribution in various fields . This function presided over by Romesh Chander Gupta President of the Sabha.
Sh. Jungi Lal Mahajan, MLA Mukerian, (Punjab), President Akhil Bharatiya Mahajan Shiromani Sabha (ABMSS) was the Chief Guest, and among the Guests of Honour were T.R. Gupta, former ABMSS President and recipient of the prestigious Mahajan Rattan title. Other notable attendees included Arvind Gupta MLA (Jammu West) along with respected figures such as Yash Paul Gupta(Chief Patron), Rattan Lal Gupta (Ex-MLC), Arun Gupta (President, CCI) , and many others from social and business circles.
The function also witnessed participation from Presidents and Secretaries of various Mahajan Sabhas and Biradaris including senior office bearers from the Akhil Bharatiya Mahajan Shiromani Sabha. The highest dignitaries heading different departments and organizations within the Biradari were felicitated with trophies/ Shallas for their outstanding contributions and societal performance such as Dr Ashutosh Gupta , Principal GMC , Rakesh Gupta , Chief Engineer ( Jal Shakti ) , Rajesh ( Executive Engineer JMC ) , Rajesh Gupta , Incharge Chief Engineer , ,Dr Sanjay Gupta ( Director Animal Husbanry) , Vikas Gupta ( DIG Anti-corruption) , Sudhir Gupta , ( Executive Director J& K Bank ) , Sonu Pargal ( D C Vijilancnce and Inspection) , Manav Gupta ( Financial Advisor Home Deptt .and many others.
The event commenced with a ceremonial deep Prajwalan, symbolizing enlightenment and unity, followed by a soulful Mangal Kamna (prayer) led by C.P. Gupta.
In his welcome address, President Romesh Chander Gupta highlighted the Sabha’s enduring legacy and dynamic role in community development. He also spoke that Sabha is contributing Widow Pension and scholarship to deserving students besides help to needy persons.He emphasized the importance of preserving the values laid down by Lala Hans Raj Mahajan, praising him as a visionary reformer who fought against regressive practices like child marriage and Sati and laid the foundation for social upliftment in Duggar Pradesh.
Romesh Chander Gupta also announced significant milestones for the Sabha, including the renovation of the Sabha Hall, now fully equipped for community functions, and the launch of new social outreach initiatives benefiting youth and senior citizens alike. Sh Arvind Gupta , Hon'ble MLA Jammu West also appreciated the role of the Sabha for its remarkable contributions for the Mahajan Community and said that if all the community members come forward whole heartedly and support the noble cause for the welfare of society especially Mahajan Community.

The Sabha felicitated more than 100 shining stars from the community, honoring their excellence across diverse fields such as:

Veterans who have tirelessly served the Mahajan community were also honored with shawls and mementos as a mark of respect and gratitude.
