early times report

SRINAGAR, Sept 29: Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM) is set to host the SARAS Mela in Kashmir from 4th to 14th October 2025 at Sher-i-Kashmir Park Srinagar.
SARAS Kashmir is a celebration of India’s colours and flavours, showcasing the rich art, culture, and creativity of rural women from across the country.
With over 50 bustling stalls, the Mela will offer a fusion of products from different regions of India, providing visitors a true representation of the country’s artistry and craftsmanship. Each stall showcases flavours and traditions brought to life by over 150 rural women entrepreneurs, nurtured through NRLM, presenting their success and products in Kashmir.
Speaking about the SARAS Mela, Mission Director JKRLM, Dr. Shubhra Sharma said, “SARAS Mela is not just a fair, it is a pan-India celebration of India’s diversity talent, enterprise, and community spirit. The participation of rural women artisans and artists from across the country makes this a unique platform to showcase talent and culture where every stall tells a story and every product embodies the spirit of empowerment.”
The Mission Director added that visitors at the Saras Fair can explore a wide range of products highlighting India’s rural diversity artistic creations and the unique cultural identities of each State including handlooms, handicrafts, jewellery, textiles, home decor, and delectable delicacies. She further said that cultural programs, selfie zones, and entertainment areas have also been made part of Mela for children which will enhance the festive spirit of the event.
“This national-level event will provide a platform for participants to sell and promote their self-made products and create marketing linkages with various selling platforms”, Dr. Shubra said.
Highlighting the creativity, resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of rural women of the country, she said that the SARAS Mela promises a vibrant experience and appeal to locals.
