| Socail welfare officer booked for 15 illegal appointments | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 11-Framing charges against Mohammed Tariq Mir the then Deputy Director Social Welfare Department for making illegal appointments of 15 Class IV including his real sister, the Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu BL Bhat, after hearing Chief Prosecuting officer Purshtom Sharma appearing for the vigilance organization and evaluation of the material with the parameters of law governing framing of charge, observed that there is ground for presuming that the accused is prima-facie guilty of offence u/s 5(1) (d) r/w section 5(2) PC Act 2006, section 120-B, 468, 471 and 201 RPC The Court also framed charges against the accused accused Yousaf Ali who was not present today, and issued non-bailable warrants of arrest against him for securing his presence in the Court. During the investigation by the vigilance organization it came to fore that accused Mohammed Tariq Mir then Deputy Director Social Welfare Jammu by abuse of his official position hatched a criminal conspiracy with the beneficiaries and made illegal appointment of class IV in Social Welfare Department Jammu with ulterior motive of confirming pecuniary benefits upon 15 beneficiaries including his real sister while he was neither competent to make such appointment nor did he follow the prescribed procedure in making such appointments. It also emerged from the material that accused Mohammed Tariq Mir forged signature of late BA Kichloo, the then Minister, on approval letters in respect of the beneficiaries. The said accused did not keep the record of such appointments in his office. The appointment orders were neither reflected in the official order book nor entered in the office dispatch register. The material also pointed out that the relevant record was destroyed to screen the offenders with oblique motive, the Vigilance Organization noticed during the investigation. JNF
