KUPWARA, 30-09-2025: The Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Kupwara, today organized a comprehensive interactive session under the leadership of S. Charandeep Singh, JKAS, Labour Commissioner, J&K, bringing together key stakeholders from the district. The event witnessed the active participation of transporters, business owners, industrialists, private school associations, and construction workers. During the session, Labour Commissioner S. Charandeep Singh held detailed one-on-one discussions with attendees, addressing their concerns and grievances related to the implementation of various labour laws. The dialogue provided a platform for stakeholders to seek clarifications, share challenges, and gain a deeper understanding of the legal frameworks governing fair and regulated workplaces. Highlighting the administration’s commitment to social welfare, the Labour Commissioner distributed financial assistance cheques to registered Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW). The assistance, provided under the BOCW Welfare Scheme, will support workers in areas such as medical assistance, higher education for their children, and death assistance for dependents of deceased workers. Speaking on the occasion, S. Charandeep Singh, JKAS, emphasized that the Labour Department is dedicated to strengthening the social security net for workers while ensuring strict compliance with labour regulations across all sectors. The event also served to raise awareness about workers’ rights and the critical role of adhering to labour laws for creating a fair, safe, and equitable working environment. On the occasion awareness about various Social Security viz; PMSBY, PMJJBY and PMSYM was imparted to various stakeholders. The interactive session in Kupwara marks another step forward in the Labour Department’s ongoing initiatives to promote welfare, transparency, and engagement with all stakeholders across Jammu & Kashmir.
