GDC Thannamandi organises cleanliness drive, essay, slogan writing competitions under Seva Parv | | | early timse report
Thannamandi Sept 30: Govt. Degree College Thannamandi, under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. Farooq Ahmed, successfully conducted a series of impactful activities as part of the “Seva Parv” initiative on September 30, 2025. The day commenced with a comprehensive Cleanliness Drive across all departments and classrooms, aiming to instill a sense of responsibility and promote a clean environment. Over 150 students and staff members collaboratively contributed to creating a cleaner campus, reinforcing the values of teamwork and collective effort. Dr. Farooq Ahmed, Principal, lauded the staff and students for their enthusiastic participation and emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene and civic responsibility. The Department of English, led by HoD Prof. Rumy Dar, organized an Essay Writing Competition on the theme "Milestones of Freedom Struggle," which received enthusiastic entries from students. The competition highlighted analytical thinking, writing proficiency, and deep engagement with India’s rich history. Prof. Rumy Dar commended the participants and encouraged them to continue developing their literary and intellectual skills. The Slogan Writing Competition, coordinated by the Shikshit Bharat Literary Committee and NSS, was overseen by NSS Programme Officer Prof. Supriya Gupta. With more than 50 students participating, the event focused on themes of nationalism and unity. Prof. Supriya Gupta acknowledged the students’ creativity and passion, stating that such activities inspire campus-wide dialogue and active citizenship. An Awareness Programme on Sheep and Animal Husbandry was held in collaboration with local veterinary experts, fostering community engagement and informing students about government schemes and best practices in livestock management. The interactive session empowered students with knowledge crucial to the region’s economic development. The NCC Unit, guided by ANO Prof. Altaf Ahmed, conducted an interactive drill and leadership session. More than 100 cadets and students participated in activities designed to cultivate leadership, discipline, and a sense of patriotism. Prof. Altaf Ahmed, supported by guest resource persons, inspired students to embody the NCC’s core values and actively contribute to nation-building.Principal Dr. Farooq Ahmed expressed pride in the collective efforts of the faculty and students, emphasizing that the events reflect the enduring spirit of service, learning, and community at GDC Thannamandi. The college reaffirms its commitment to nurturing responsible, socially aware, and dynamic youth.
