The chief guest of the function was Dr. Renu Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College of Education. On this occasion a panel discussion on ‘The Role of Mothers in changing society’ was organized at which the mothers of the school wing were invited to participate in the panel discussion who shared rich experiences with the panelists. The panelists were Rupa Gupta, Annie Koul, Angela Gadroo, Usha Chuni and Monika Mahajan. Rupa Gupta, Principal R.R. School extended a warm welcome to the guests and described motherhood as the most precious gift of God to a woman. She said that the whole idea of celebrating this day was to thank mothers and to make them feel important and honour them. There is no rule book on mothering and no place or school where she can go to learn all the ways to handle their children. It comes naturally to her. Informative interaction with mothers of all ages starting from pre-nursery classes to higher secondary school was made on various topics like Mother as a cook—as a keeper of values----as a teacher---as a mother and ---as a role player. Dr. Arun Gupta chairman MIER appreciated the efforts of CWS for organizing such interactive program. A beautiful song on the theme of the Mother was presented by the students of the school. Ice breakers and energizers were used during the program to make the participants more relaxed and interactive. Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER in her address said that Mother is a person who embodies compassion, kindness, benevolence and selfless love. Mother protects her children even at the risk of her own life. She loves and protects her children. Mother is the child’s best friend and is there for the child every thick and thin. It is rightly said that God could not be present with everyone so he created mothers in his own image. She saluted the spirit, unwavering focus, sense of duty and the overwhelming love and affection that mothers give to their children and Mother’s Day celebration would serve as a small token of appreciation for their efforts. Dr. Ira Bhan in her vote of thanks applauded the mothers for the sacrifices and efforts they make for their children. Gifts were also given to the mothers as a token of appreciation.
