early times report

Jalandhar, Oct 1; Renowned Bollywood actor, philanthropist, and social reformer Sonu Sood visited Lovely Professional University (LPU) for an engaging and heartfelt interaction with students, leaving the campus energized with his words of inspiration, humility, and purpose.
Upon his arrival, the university leadership accorded him a warm and distinguished welcome. Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, Col. Dr. Rashmi Mittal, Pro-Chancellor of LPU, and Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor of LPU, felicitated him in recognition of his impactful humanitarian work and enduring commitment to public service.
Sonu Sood shared that the moment he stepped onto the campus, it reminded him of his own college days as an electronics-engineering student. In a light-hearted exchange, he remarked, “Chancellor Sir should have built the university earlier, as I would have loved the opportunity to study in such an excellent environment.”
He then spoke about the philosophy behind his widely admired humanitarian work. "You can reach the peak of your career and gather great wealth, but the fulfillment that comes from giving someone hope is a unique emotion," he reflected. "That sense of purpose is something no material success can ever replace."
Addressing questions about his political plans, Mr. Sood shared, “There is no fixed time. Whenever it happens, it will happen with a bang. Right now, I don’t want my attention divided. If someone in need is calling me, I can’t be sitting in front of the camera. When I enter politics, it will be wholeheartedly, following the legacy of good leaders like Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal.”
Beyond the interaction, Mr. Sood’s campus visit was filled with personal and emotional moments that resonated deeply with students. He visited LPU’s Dog Care Centre, feeding the dogs and placing collars on rescue animals, demonstrating his compassion for all beings. A particularly moving moment unfolded when he met a first-year LPU student from Moga, a die-hard fan who has been running a Sonu Sood fan page on Instagram for years. Overcome with emotion, the student cried upon meeting his idol, and Mr. Sood comforted him, turning the encounter into a heartfelt and unforgettable experience for everyone present. He also explored LPU’s state-of-the-art sports facilities, where he tried his hand at shooting and impressively scored four out of four bull’s-eye shots, leaving students thrilled by both his skill and humility.
The event brimmed with warmth and enthusiasm. Students cheered as he recited some of his popular film dialogues, joined fashion students for an impromptu ramp walk, and shared poetic verses. He fondly recalled how he developed a love for shayari through letters exchanged with his mother during his college days. “I still read those letters today,” he said.
Moments like these reflect LPU’s approach to education—creating spaces where students can engage with inspiring leaders, absorb real-world lessons, and reflect on the values of service, perseverance, and purpose that shape not just careers, but character.
