Doda, Oct 2: As a mark of the last day of the ongoing Swasth Nari Sakshat Parivar campaign and on the eve of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the "Father of the Nation," the Health Department Doda, under the overall guidance of CMO Doda, Dr. Om Kumar, organized Kusht Mukti Abhiyan ceremonies across the district on 2nd October, 2025.
The purpose of observing the day was to create mass awareness about leprosy and to sensitize the public about eliminating stigma associated with the disease.
At the District Hqr Doda, the main programme was held at the CMO office, which was graced by BMO Ghat, Dr. Abdul Gafoor, along with the staff of CMO and Dy CMO Office Doda. On the occasion, a campaign vehicle was flagged off by the BMO Ghat in the presence of health staff. Later, all officials and staff took a pledge to fight against leprosy stigma and to spread awareness in the community.
Similar awareness programmes were organized at PHC Assar, SDH Gandoh, CHC Thathri, and other parts of the district to mark the day. Apart from awareness activities, cleanliness drives were also conducted in hospitals and health institutions to promote the message of hygiene and sanitation.
The Health Department reaffirmed its commitment to continue such initiatives for the welfare of society and to work towards a leprosy-free district. |
