Jammu, Oct 2: The Central University of Jammu celebrated Swachhata Hi Sewa – 2025 from 17th September to 2nd October 2025 with a vibrant series of awareness and cleanliness programmes across the campus. The campaign was organized under the guidance of Honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, who personally participated in several key initiatives, lending inspiration and encouragement to the entire university community.
Prof. Jain planted a sapling during the Plantation Drive, symbolizing the university’s commitment to a sustainable future. He inaugurated the 3R Centre, which showcased products made from recycled materials, praising its potential as a hub for skill development and innovation.
In another special event, he inaugurated the showcasing of items prepared from waste materials—including purses, wallets, showpieces, and wall hangings—prepared by students and faculty members to promote reuse and eco-friendly lifestyles.
On the concluding day of the campaign, he distributed Swachhata Kits to Safai Mitras, acknowledging their indispensable contribution to campus cleanliness and motivating them to continue their work with pride and safety.
Alongside these activities, the fortnight-long campaign featured a wide range of events that engaged students, faculty, and staff in creative and meaningful ways.
These included pledge ceremonies, awareness rallies, nukkad nataks, quizzes, debates, essay and slogan-writing contests, poster-making, collage and rangoli competitions, workshops on vermin composting, and a sustainable fashion show. Students also participated in real-time cleanliness drives, waste segregation, hostel corridor cleaning, planting of saplings, and designing eco-friendly proposals for the campus. Each initiative underscored the themes of reduce, reuse, and recycle, turning the campus into a hub of creativity and environmental consciousness.
Prof. Richa Kothari, serving as the Nodal Officer, convened the programme with the valuable support of Registrar Prof. Yashwant Singh, who oversaw its smooth coordination. Prof. Deepak Pathania, along with faculty members including Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dr. Neeta Rani, Dr. Shweta Yadav, Dr. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Ankit Tandon,Dr. Sujata Kundan, Dr. Princy Gupta, Dr. Manvi Rajput, Dr. Susmita Ekka, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Misbah, Dr. Harneet Kour, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Dr. Anuradha, Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Dr. Ratnesh Kumar Yadav, Dr. Vishal, Dr. Vandana Sharma, Dr. Mohan Galgotra, Dr. Amita Gupta, Sh. Manish Prakash, Sh. Fateh Lal Bheel, Sh. Vikas Gupta and Dr. Rajan Badyal, among others, contributed as conveners and coordinators, ensuring enthusiastic participation from the student community. Dr. Deepak Bhardwaj served as the Member Secretary and looked after the successful conduct of individual events, ensuring seamless execution across the campaign.
